Avery's Bucket List

Hey everyone, I ran across this story today about a little girl who is 5 months old and was diagnosed with Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA). It is the number one genetic killer of infants and children under two. The problem is, people are not automatically tested for it and many doctors do not offer it. Most times you must request for this to be added to all the other genetic testing. 1 in 40 people are carriers of SMA.

That's Avery. Isn't she absolutely adorable?

Please follow her blog, or at least read it and share it with everyone you know. The word needs to be spread about SMA so that one day there will be a world that no baby will die from it. Right now there is no testing being done but something needs to change about that. I for one hope I never have to watch my baby suffer like this.

Introducing Coco Chanel

So I told y'all that Richard and I went to the Willamette Humane Society yesterday to look at puppies. Well, there was a little girl there who stole my heart. Her name is Coco (I added the Chanel). Coco Chanel is a miniature pinscher/chihuahua mix. We put her on hold last night to think about it a little more and today I just knew she was the one. As soon as I got her we went to Petco and she loved it. She was all over the place sniffing everything and showing off how cute she is. Plus, she got a new collar and bowls and a super cute owl toy.

And she is a little lover.. Tonight while I was working on my homework she laid in my lap between me and the computer so I had to type around her, she is even doing it now. And she loves giving kisses. No joke, it's her favorite thing. The best part is watching her try to play with Kitty. Coco really wants to be friends, but Kitty is not sure yet. Hopefully I'll get a picture of them together soon :)

I still miss my Blazer and I want him here badly, but I think this little girl will be a little easier to hide. One day Blaze, Kitty and Coco Chanel will all be friends.
